Assistant Professor Hirley Alves is the head of the Machine-type Wireless Communications Group and leads the URLLC activities under the 6G Flagship program at Centre for Wireless Communications (CWC), University of Oulu, Finland. Assist. Prof. Alves is General Co-Chair of the 1st 6G Summit and General Chair of ISWCS’2019. His group is actively working on massive connectivity and ultra-reliable low latency communications for future wireless networks.
URLLC key enablers for 5G and beyond systems
URLLC is an inherent part of 5G and is the communication mode that imposes the greatest technical challenges for 5G and beyond systems. Nonetheless, URLLC is fundamental to achieve the vision in several industrial verticals, for instance industrial IoT, which in some use-cases requires several 9s reliability within a millisecond. Even though some advancements have been made with 5GNR, we are still far from enabling that vision, therefore in this talk we will discuss different URLLC enablers for 5G and beyond systems and their associated challenges.
