Sasu Tarkoma is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Helsinki and Head of the Department of Computer Science.
He is also Director of the Helsinki Center for Data Science and affiliated with the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology HIIT.
He has authored 4 textbooks and has published over 160 scientific articles. He has seven granted US Patents. His research has received a number of Best Paper awards and mentions, for example at IEEE PerCom, ACM CCR, and ACM OSR.

Towards AI supported networks and services
In this talk, Sasu Tarkoma will give an overview of selected AI and network related activities in Finland, namely the 5G-FORCE research program, the Finnish Center for AI (FCAI), and the MegaSense research program. He will present key highlights pertaining to AI assisted network optimization and security in mobile networks. Then as a unified example, he will present our data science flagship project called MegaSense aiming for scalable environmental sensing with 5G supported by AI technologies.
